Volunteer and Give Back

Volunteering can improve self-confidence and overall satisfaction. Doing good for others and the community provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Here are various local volunteer opportunities to look into.

  • Six Cleanup Challenge: https://www.sdcoastkeeper.org/beach-cleanups/six-cleanup-challenge
    • The San Diego Coastkeeper challenges you to do the six cleanup challenge. Count the debris you find with the Litterati app. (This app uses image technology to record the trash you pick up.) Let’s keep San Diego’s beaches, coastline, diverse neighborhoods, and secluded urban canyons and parks clean together.
  • San Diego Humane Society: https://www.sdhumane.org/support-us/volunteer/
    • There are five locations and various opportunities to volunteer at the SD Humane Society. New volunteers are recruited on an as-needed basis and placed in an appropriate role and trained before they begin.
  • Father Joe’s Villages: https://my.neighbor.org/take-action/volunteer/
    • Look into the variety of programs including tutoring kids, preparing and serving meals, doing maintenance projects, and more at a Father Joe’s location near you. Fill out an interest form and a volunteer service coordinator will find an opportunity that works for you or your group

Engaging in self-care and healthy habits regularly leads to a boost in productivity and can help you put your best foot forward. Start Spring off on the right foot by trying some or all of these ideas.
