The cozy downtown locations which runs along the Pacific Coast Highway is filled with quaint beach shops, upscale boutiques, and incredible dining spots that overlook the ocean. The beaches draw in locals from all over San Diego. Seagrove Park is a popular destination with comfortable grassy knolls that lead right onto the sandy beaches. Just north is the ever-popular Dog Beach where pups of all sizes can run freely through the sand, sun, and saltwater to their hearts content.

The Del Mar Fairgrounds and Race Track is perhaps one of the most recognizable destinations within the town with its annual summer racing season and a host of other exciting events that take place here throughout the year.

The newly remodeled Flower Hill Promenade offers a variety of elite shopping and dining choices. Elegant oceanfront dining can also be enjoyed at several locations such as The Plaza, and restaurants located within the famous L’Auberge, and The Grand Del Mar resort hotels.

There’s an accomplished selection of schools in Del Mar. A majority of schools from kindergarten through twelfth are evenly split between and the San Dieguito School District and the Del Mar Union School District. The public education choices are top-notch with three schools receiving recognition as California Distinguished School - Del Mar Heights, Carmel Del Mar, and Ocean Air. Torrey Pines High School and the unique ‘school of choice’, Canyon Crest Academy are both recognized statewide for their excellence in public education. There are also some noteworthy private schools to explore such as The Winston School and St. James Academy.
